Safeguarding Policy


Frodsham & District Photographic Society acknowledges the duty of care to safeguard and promote the welfare of young people and is committed to ensuring safeguarding practice reflects statutory responsibilities, government guidance and complies with best practice.

The policy recognises that the welfare and interests of children are paramount in all circumstances, regardless of age, gender, religion or beliefs, ethnicity, disability, sexual orientation or socio-economic background.

Aims

To ensure that all young people:-

(a)  have a positive and enjoyable experience of photography at Frodsham & District Photographic Society in a safe environment

(b) are protected from abuse, sexual, physical or emotional, whilst participating in photographic activities whether inside or outside.

In its Safeguarding Policy Frodsham & District Photographic Society will :-

  1. Promote the safety and well-being of all young people.
  2. Ensure all members have an understanding of roles and responsibilities and feel able to respond to any safeguarding concerns relating to young members
  3. Ensure appropriate action is taken in the event of incidents/concerns of abuse and that support is provided to both the individual(s) who raises or discloses the concern and the young person.
  4. Ensure that confidential, detailed and accurate records of all safeguarding concerns are maintained and securely stored.

All members of the Society will be made aware of the mandatory policy and procedures.

Monitoring

The policy will be reviewed a year after development and then every three years, or in the following circumstances: –

changes in legislation and/or government guidance or as a result of any other significant change or event.

Procedure

On consideration of where risk might arise these procedures will be adopted for young people under 18 years of age who attend Meetings, Events or Outings organised by Frodsham & District Photographic Society.

(1) Students will be the responsibility of a named parent or guardian who is also a Society Member.

(2) There will be no ‘one-to-one’ contact between the Student and a Society Member who is not the parent or guardian.

(3) The named parent or guardian will support the Student at all Meetings, Events and Outings.

(4) Instruction will be given in safe procedures in both the Studio and outside.

(5) E-mail addresses will be known only to the Webmaster.

 Documentation

Suitable documentation will be in place for any incidents and safe storage organised for all record keeping. In the final reckoning it should be noted that Social Services and/or Police can be involved.
